Message from the Founder

Welcome to the WDE Media Website. As my second article, I want to share a brief description of the software tech stack, and why my 50+ years working within technology waves of change has prepared me for this project.

Riding the Waves of Technology

My path to an electronics engineering and software career began during the major global computing transitions of the late 1960s; where advanced mathematics relied on slide rules; IBM announced in 1964 the world’s first mainframe computer using microelectronics; and the world’s first electronic calculator hit the market for $395.

I entered the workforce ten years before the term “Personal Computer” was coined, initially selling programmable desktop calculators to farmers and laboratories that previously relied on paper and slide rules. Because a dedicated software industry did not yet exist, I became largely self-taught, working as a salesman by day and a programmer by night. Over the decades, I transitioned through various roles, including CTO and CIO, navigating the waves of microcomputers, mini-computer operating systems like UNIX, fault-tolerant networks, the Internet boom, and the rollout of 3G and 4G cellular networks.

Throughout every disruption, my intuition and dual experience in both technical architecture and sales allowed me to adapt and see the true potential of automation: not as a job replacement, but as a tool to expand capacity and efficiency.

The AI Revolution and a Personal Mission

When I began exploring early AI cloud services, the familiar fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) of past technological shifts were present, but I quickly saw AI’s transformative potential. After testing numerous platforms, Google Gemini’s Deep Research stood out for its ability to plan, pause for human-in-the-loop review, execute comprehensive web searches, and synthesize hundreds of sources into detailed reports without hallucinating.

Then one day, the technology became deeply personal. I asked myself if AI could empower my nephew, who uses a wheelchair and has limited mobility and speech, to navigate his college courses and future career independently. A quick AI prompt yielded a blueprint for a “Wheelchair-Mounted AI-Server”—a low-power, edge-native system capable of real-time text-to-speech, lecture transcription, and home automation.

This project redefined my focus. After a career building systems for massive scale, I am now dedicated to building solutions that are “born accessible,” where accessibility is foundational rather than an afterthought.

The Right Stack for True Accessibility

Historically, Assistive Technology has been siloed, stigmatizing, and prohibitively expensive. Today, we are entering the ambient computing era, where assistive tech, educational tech, and AI are converging into a unified digital ecosystem.

To meet this moment, I have crafted a deliberate, high-performance software tech stack built for speed, intelligence, and dignity:

• The Foundation: A sovereign AI architecture using Open Source models like Google Gemma 4, orchestrated by Cloudflare Workers as an Intelligence Control Plane. This creates a portable, peer-to-peer platform spanning smartphones, laptops, and data centers. Each device platform includes Gemma 4 AI model, a public harness interface that is compatible with Open AI, and a private harness adapter for the device-specific system services.
• The Edge-Native Middle Layer: By processing AI data locally on devices, such as, NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano, we eliminate remote server latency. For someone relying on AI to navigate a physical environment, instantaneous responsiveness is a critical safety net.
• The Application Layer: Applications are redesigned to weave AI into daily workflows.

Designing for Dignity

The care in this architecture extends down to the microscopic level of the source code. Our platform utilizes the Atkinson Hyperlegible font, a typeface developed for the Braille Institute that maximizes character distinction for readers with low vision. Combined with accessibility-first color palettes and strict adherence to global compliance standards, this single CSS file proves that independence and dignity are embedded directly into our code.

We are building products at the intersection of Assistive Technology, Educational Tech, and Artificial Intelligence. By offering market research reports, structural blueprints, and comparative analyses, we are prototyping the very systems that will guide institutions through the complex requirements of modern accessibility laws, private sovereign AI cloud services, and private Durable Agents that have long-term memory, and the skills to coordinate agent swarm activities.
